Can I have a bite

The mystery is starting to take on a a world of it's own. A suspect has vanished from his jail cell. A humble sheriff feels ghosts are at play. Two victims spouted off that they believe vampires were at the forefront. The skeptical detective monologues briefly about his previous case that he also was skeptical about. He must really have rotten luck when it comes to cases. A mysterious voice spoke to the escaped suspect and caused him to run off and question his reality. The psyche of everyone is beginning to cross a line making everyone wonder what is reality. The sickness is about to become widespread across all of Pulchuraville cuasing people to make choices. Other incidents like the previous murder have started to spring up making the good detective to wonder if he's dealing with a serial killer. Twins that have been studying the past may just hold the solution to the problem.

The vampires grew hungry and have been living off my lifeforce. I'm hoping to keep them at bay long enough and hoping to draw them forth into the sun. I myself have almost become immune to the sickening. Either that or they have become experienced at draining blood. Just hope they don't accidentally go for the kill or purposefully kill me. I just hope they don't transform me. I have been struggling with the thoughts that I may turn into one of them. Would I really sneak around at night  and suck out the blood of strangers. What if I accidentally killed them. What if I go rogue and go on a rampage? I would probably choose to destroy myself. They fear that I will release their secrets. Vampires have kept a veil of secrecy to the point man has discarded them as a myth, but they exist. They typically pick a sleepy town to strike somewhere where records will be covered up easily. They can strike alone or in a colony. So if you live in a small sleepey village I warn you to be on guard.

Finally made some progress today that I'm proud of. I feel that the characters within the actual story are being fleshed out and are no longer just mere thoughts from my head, but they are living and breathing. I'm gonna try to keep the blog  in to the sections of me spouting a bit about plot and story advancements and then me ad libbing a first person diary style of me fearing from my creation. Sorry it was a bit lagging here for a few days, but when I barely advanced the plot and was struggling with placing ideas down to paper there wasn't much I could write. Now I'm glad I did make the challenge of myself to write at least one page per day. Otherwise chances are I would have given up on this story completely. I believe so far I've successfully written for 16 days with at least one page a day.

349 more days left. I hope I can make it. I plan on it and it would allow me to complete something I've started for once.

Day x, word Y

Today's heatwave really took it's toll on me. It was a day they just eventually drained me. I just felt that today's heat created another day of forcing me to write in a struggling manner.  I wanted to write so much today, but the heat just kept me sweating away. I made some progress, but how much of my sanity did I give up trying to get through. It definitely was too hot for thinking today.

End of the drought

I feel like the progress is starting to take shape again. Hopefully getting back to my normal sleeping schedule tonight will mean I can get back to the hours that I"m most productive at writing which seemed to be at around 10 am. I also feel a little bit better so just maybe I will overcome the sickness. Either that or I'll just get sicker and disappear before finishing. This was the first day that I've felt I've wrote something that will work out without too many revisions, however it is using some of what I thought was useless blabber over the past two days. So here after having two days of what I considered horrible writing days, I've found a genius way to salvage it. Simply I'll just add on to the start of what I found as blabber and use it at a later stage of the story. I look for tomorrow to be quite productive, I may even go on a writer's  crusade and come close to doubling what I currently have written. I'm not sure if I will or not, but since today was the first day I came out of the writer's struggle of meeting my quota I've set for myself with not problem and even near tripling it for the day makes me feel revived. So tomorrow may see several mini updates throughout the day.

Till tomorrow which may turn into a marathon unless the vampires decide to drain me tonight while I attempt to sleep. They fear that I'll reveal their true nature so they keep trying to delay me from writing onwards. I believe that is why I've had two very rough days of writing. Onwards and upwards we go I guess. I guess I'll have to use one of the methods of defeating a vampire soon. Then again I would hate to be the one to destroy my own creation, but they are slowly getting out of control and trying to impede on my progress, meaning I must keep a close eye on them. Being stalked by them at night is very terrifying, never knowing if they may go for the kill.

Till tomorrow,
eric

Slowly slowly

Another somewhat unproductive day. I really feel this is another day of writing something that makes very little sense.

I feel my creation has achieved mind control over me and slowly has fed upon my life force. They grow stronger each day and soon I won't be able to write much more. They may just receive their wish and achieve silencing me. For the sickness I have must be from my creation. They want their secrets to remain in mystery. They want me under their control at the very least. I will have to destroy them soon. The sickness will soon take over my body and leave me  between the lands of life and death.

Another slow day

Well after such a fast start the past two days have been very slow moving. I'm just barely making it to a page. I blame it partially on me feeling ill and the other part on I'm surprised I'm still attempting to write each day. So honestly since nothing has really advanced and I'm quite sure that the past two days writing is probably just filler that may get cut when I get to the revisions. I'm hoping I'm feeling better tomorrow. I hate being sick.

Moving onwards

Welll not much to say today except that everything is moving a long. I think I'm getting sick though which makes writing a bit rough, but I will continue onwards. I've just been so tired today, what I've written today probably makes no sense. however in the spirit of progress I have gotten a page wrote to continue with my goal. Even though I'm sure I'll have to revise it completely.

Another day goes by

I'm impressed that I've kept myself in rhythm this far. That makes 10 days down and 355 to go.  I'm actually quite a bit ahead of schedule and now find myself wanting to write more and more each day. Funny thing is on day one I was struggling with just getting to the one page. Day 2 I wanted to give up, Day 3 I was starting to get somewhat comfortable. Day 4 I feel I finally started getting into the plot. Now everything is getting simple to write. I feel I've come to know my characters. They almost feel as if they're an extension of myself or at least what I hear in the news. I'm really starting to like the detective character I created, that I am not too sure where I want to take him. I guess with all the mysterious deaths I should have some characters survive, but who should live?

Not much else to say today, except I definitely need to sleep. Insomnia slowly takes over the mind. I've been staying up to defend myself from their approachs. It will be only some time before they make a successful strike.

First visit from the block.

My best friend the writer's block finally paid me a visit. However I struggled through it and believe I might have came up with a great twist  otherwise I wouldn't have thought of doing the setup in this way. The weirdness has started in the town with one mystery developing after another. No one has linked them all together yet at this time. In fact only the two leads have any idea of what's going on. The lead investigative detective has also discovered something that he believes is un-related. Lives are hanging on by a thread and a set of twins may hold the answers to what's happening. They however have started to roll out one of their suspects, but is it a mistake. I think if the reader stayed interested in the beginning of the story up to this point they will now be sucked in and start to feel an attachment with some of the characters that are now gonna face danger. But the more important question is everything in their mind. The restoration of the vampire tale is starting to go into full swing.

Bouncing ideas around

Today has been mostly a day of brain storming. I've really been thinking a lot about my writing and how to express the story how I want. I even sat back and read what I've wrote so far and I find myself intrigued. It has me really thinking if all writers enjoy the stories they tell.

Also I'm bouncing around ideas for another project after I'm done this current story. For some reason it's a style of story telling quite popular in the orient. A style where the story is a collection of seemingly unrelated stories that tie in to create a final story. Sometimes it involves going through various time periods, other times it's various places, but there's only one or two elements that keep the tales linked together and sometimes the point isn't seen until the final chapter.

Blood will be shed

I don't think I'm giving my protagonists a break from the strange occurrences happening in their town. They slowly but surely are understanding that all the events are tied together. One important character has just been introduced, no good mystery is complete without a detective. Though the detective at this time is just investigating a strange homicide. He doesn't seem like the type that believes in vampires though so it seems doubtful he'll believe the story from the twins.

They came again last night wanting a pint of blood. I'm not sure if I have the blood to provide to them. I will fight on and continue to reveal their secrets. My own creation has become breathing and bloodthirsty. I can only hope they don't go out and seize the world. Their demands grow and they don't want this story written.

Another 1000 words down

So far I've been writing more and more each day pass the goal of one page per day. Decided to have my first intimate scene  go awry at the movies.  Set up quite a plot twist and  will most likely continue onwards with the ride down mystery lane.

They also keep draining me of my strength.  I don't know if I will survive the continuous onslaught. They keep sucking my blood away and making me weak. I'm not sure if I will have any left to offer them. But I will reveal the secrets to their defeat. They strike quick, but I must type faster. I must release the power to destroy them. I must stay awake and starve them of their blood supply. I will find their coffins and strike.

Are cemetery scenes overused

I'm debating on if I should add the typical cemetery scene or not. I mean it seems almost to be a requirement in any type of horror story. Even if the cemetery has nothing really to do with the plot. I almost feel it's a requirement or I could add it in randomly and then have its purpose revealed later.

So to cemetery or not to cemetery?

Ut-oh we have a casualty

The vampire's grasp has claimed a victim, but the authorities and doctor's for some reason aren't treating that as the cause. They instead point the fingers that it's a murder and accused the nurse on duty.

Will Jenny and Jamie continue to uncover more mysteries from the past through two old books they've come across? Will Jenny's date go awry as Jamie is home alone and notices the way vampire's work?. Jamie sits and awaits the return of her sister while she worries the vampire's have gotten to Jenny's date.

I  also feel my creation paid me a visit again last night. They just don't want the truth revealed about them. They don't want me to allow the world to see the truth that vampire's exist. I keep trying to tell them the world will still believe it's a fictional account. I however will not give up. I will write this tale to its finish. If anything they should be happy that I'm exposing their story to the world as many feel they are to parodied and not taken seriously. They should be thanking me for this revival of sorts. Maybe I just learned too much about their secrets, that they feel the world should not know the real vampires.

Otherwise besides the threats from my creation the writing is going smoothly. Today has been mostly a dark and dreary day so I've decided to do quite a bit of writing. Good thing to note is I feel I'm about 1/10 of my way through the plot. Either that or I'm 1/100 of the way through and I'm just realistically cutting the story down to1/10 so it will be finished someday.

More updates coming soon probably either more today or come by tomorrow.

This is a test

This is just me testing to see if everything is posted to Feed and twitter correctly.  I may eventually create my own design using html, but it all depends if I don't get lazy. Also it's quite fun getting reacquainted with html. I sometimes miss designing webpages even though I feel I'm horrible at promotion.

Anyhow I'll probably head to bed soon and catch up on sleep. Just hope my characters don't drain me of all my energy like they seemed to of done today. Also out of boredom I broke my story down to around the page size of a typical paper back book and realized I'm further a long then I was thinking. Also if I was to double space everything I'd inflate it to make it look like I'm a lot farther a long. I just hope I can keep up with this schedule I laid out for myself.

Drain my life away

I feel my own creation is out to get me. I've felt so drained today. I'm succumbing to the Vampire's Grasp myself. They didn't want me to let the secret out. I promise I will fight on and complete their story before they kill me like they've killed so many others over the centuries.

Other news today was way too hot. I thought I was gonna die from heat stroke. So I did make some progression today. I think tomorrow will be more productive if the vampires don't visit me while I sleep. Will they come as bats or will they come in human form no one really will know. One thing for sure is that I feel I'm further along in the story than I thought I would be. So hopefully I can keep up the  progress.

Another day and another page

Well today I started writing later than I thought I was going to. Just simply went to write a page to expand on my plot. I feel I'm growing closer to ending chapter two and moving onto chapter 3 which is where I' m gonna say the real story starts. Not that I have my cut off points for chapters completely planned out. But I do have plans laid out in my head. Right now I'm just letting the creative juices flow. The only thing I know is I have the destination planned. I'm not sure what types of twists and turns are on the horizon but I do believe it will be entertaining. Stay tune soon I'll release more of the plot details. All I will say is it feels like a classic mystery, but it doesn't necessarily have your Sherlocke Holmes detective character that most mysteries have. Even though I enjoy the know it all detectives, I feel  though with the subject in hand and the fact the story primarily is taking place in a small town village, which for the historical factor is set in Massachusetts. Namely when people think of colonial Massachusetts they typically think of the witch trials and since this town called Pulchuraville. (Pulchura is derived from Latin meaning beautiful and ville from French, meaning village gives us the name Beautiful Village.)Would anyone suspect such a town to have so many hidden secrets and such an ominous pass as the protagonists find out early in chapter 2.

Ville in itself may even originally be Latin. Too bad it's been so long since I've studied Latin.

Onwards writing backwords to move forwards

I once again have myself wondering how some of my favorite authors write. Like right now I have the conclusion to this story planned out and it's just trying to make the road map and adventure to reach this conclusion. I'm beginning to wonder if I have what it takes to write a nice exciting story. I mean I find myself getting excited as I write the details. The question I wonder is if authors get as excited as they are writing a story as a reader gets while reading it. I mean the author typically would be the first reader of their story. If they write something they personally don't like would they still continue in that direction if they thought a reader would like it.

Have to say progress is coming better than I thought. Started on chapter 2 today and it's moving forward. Not sure how long this story will end up being. But I will continue to update.

Day 3

So some minor plot developments today. I'm almost getting addicted to this project. Which usually by time I get to this point in a project I want to give up. However since I now give myself this deadline of posting a progression report here each day I'm hoping I will stick to composing this piece of art.

Earlier today I read part of Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet and it had me thinking wonder how long Shakespeare spent on his work. Also Shakespeare had a knack for creating words and well I feel like I've already created one new word for my story. Another writer I sit back and wonder how they approach things is Stephen King. Like his work or not he's probably one of the most famous modern day writers. I also sit back and wonder where other writers draw their inspiration. For me I've been drawing inspiration from believe it or not some projects I did as an undergraduate. I doubt he's reading this but I would like to just have a shout to Dr. George White, because of the classes I had with him I feel I'm doing justice  to the direction I'm taking this story in with Romania and Hungary. People today rarely keep track of political and religious importance of a region as I hope to impress on my readers with the rich history of a territory typically surrounded in lure. Even though I would cross this story as that of a mystery and vampire story, as with most things there is a secondary story hidden between the lines.

Something tells me here soon I may end up getting ahead of where I want to be with this story. Even if I find myself producing quite a bit progress, my goal is still to have 365 days of writing at least 1 page and then posting a a followup here. Which means I'm actually probably writing at least twice my goal depending on the length of these blog posts.

Until tomorrow,
Eric

Progression version 7.0

So far I think my plot is progressing nicely. Kept up and wrote a page and a half to finish up the day.  Have to say I'm really hoping I keep up with this regiment.  So far I enjoy where I'm going with the plot. Adding in some real historical background mixed with fiction should be an exciting mix to keep people interested. The historian in me probably would keep it strictly historical but people find history so boring. Also I've decided if I ever wanted to write a completely historical  book I already have my topic picked out. In fact I have about 3 chapters wrote on that topic which started as an undergrad paper. But to be honest I'm just so tired of Abraham Lincoln right now. Even though I think the whole Lincoln vs Chief Justice Taney angle would make an exciting novel.

My current writing though is exploring a few historical angles. One angle is vampires, another angle is the current political dispute between Hungary and Romania over a Territory better known as Transylvania. A third Angle that a main character brings up time and time again is Vlad the Impaler. How's this schmorgesbourge of topics gonna make an exciting mystery/vampire/horror/romance story. Something I've learned from many old fable and tales is there almost always has to be some type of  romance. But unfortunately I'm not banking on the romance part of this story being the major story arch it however will develop throughout the story.

I also have decided  that this will hopefully be a full novel length however I'm still debating on having a few small stories  linking into the bigger tale. Also I'm already thinking about creating a prologue which will cover the background more of a certain important character, then again I'm debating on if that would ruin the shock factor or not.

I am a fan of plays so I'm thinking of laying this story out in acts. Not officially, but since the story will leave the peaceful serene town in America and head back to the source of the mysterious disease and a war torn country.

I am hoping to keep the political turmoil out of it, but when the story moves onto the war torn territory it will be up to certain characters to find out if the stories they heard were true. So far it's a schmorgesbourge, but the story is beginning to take form and I'm hoping by making myself keep this log that I will stick to my goal of one page or more per day.

Day 2

Well day one saw me go to the three page mark. Getting ready to write the page I promised myself I'd write today. Not sure how much past a page I will write. So far I have a general consensus of the direction I want to move in. How many twists and turns will be thrown in is the question I ask myself? Another question I keep asking to myself is will I go with the general idea of writing short stories or turn into more of a novel. One idea I've been pandering is have each chapter be a short story within itself, but tying into a bigger story. Right now I'm just gonna write and I guess the direction will create itself.

So far my story's focal characters are a set of twins. The setup is that there are new neighbor's moving next door.  The first minor character introduced is the mailman. The (neighbor) is also introduced in a meeting with the mailman. The mailman and his wife have came down with a mysterious sickness and also have weird marks appear on their necks. Setup for any conventional vampire mystery.

Composing Thoughts

I've had this dream to actually write some form of novel ever since I was young. I believe the first story I started to compose was one I called The Dog-Headed Scientist. It was a throwback to classic horror stories of past. It was really only composed of three main characters, you had the professor, and two brothers. I actually found the handwritten story, that I may type up for the fun of it. Mind that it was written when I was in second grade.  Another problem I seem to struggle with is at some point I seem to change formats from a narrative to more of a play. I for some reason have always had a soft spot for the art of how plays are written, I am probably a rare individual that loves reading plays since well I get to get into character for each and every character. I'm actually thinking though of placing together an anthology of short stories I've written over the years. IN a way though I feel I keep writing in genres that have seen better days. Be it from Mystery to Classic Horror to a combination of Horror and Mystery. In hopes to keep myself writing and touching up some short stories I plan to post some sort of progress on here.I'm always one of those people that place things on hold or I never complete anything  start. Well I'm hoping by placing a progress report here daily will inspire me to complete something. I've actually sat down and thought about it, if I wrote one page a day for 1 year I would have an average length novel. Not to say I wouldn't write more than a page in a day, but that is my goal. Starting this August 15, 2010 through August 15, 2011 my goal is that to compose at least 1 page per day in either a collection of short, but related stories, or intertwining it into a complete novel. So far my current idea is to revive the classic vampire story, however since I seem to always involve a mystery somehow in my plots it will most likely be filled with twists and turns. I'm not sure if my vision of vampires will be that popular right now the way Hollywood is making fun of them, but hopefully there is still somewhere for the classic vampire.

I would like to bid adieu for the night as I attempt to write the opening of this story. Which I feel I've been writing in my head over the weekend. Too bad they haven't made a way to hook the brain to the computer to do the typing that way. It would make this a lot quicker.
